Round-up of every try, tackle and scrum – all the rugby action from teams across Wirral

CALDY recovered from the disappointment of last weekend at Hull, and produced their best performance of the season with a mauling of Westoe.

Man of the Match Gavin Roberts scored two well deserved trys and amassed a sizeable 32 points haul.

Caldy could not have got a better start when Adam Aigbokhae powered his way over after an excellent pass from Soutar on two minutes.

Roberts converted and kicked a fine penalty five points later to stretch the lead to 10.

Westoe kicked a penalty before Eaves collected a Kohler long pass and he scored in the corner and Roberts converted to leave the half time score 3-17.

Westoe started the second half brightly but only managed a sole penalty despite some good pressure.

The Caldy defensive line was impregnable all afternoon with Bansor and Aigbokhae relentless.

On 57 minutes, JJ Dickinson collected another good pass from Soutar on the wing and touched down unchallenged. Roberts kicked the touchline conversion.

Two further penalties on 58 and 61 minutes gave Caldy plenty of daylight and it brought out the best in the whole side.

Gavin Roberts scored two excellent converted tries separated by a penalty to secure a fine away win against one of the league's top sides.

Congratulations to senior colt Tom Sanders who made his debut in the second row after 60 minutes and put in a fine performance.
