A GREAT game of open rugby saw Wirral Junior Colts complete their league campaign with an empathic win over Lymm.
With a full strength squad, except for Sam McNee, Wirral started the game well at the Memorial Ground.
Sandy Davidson opened the scoring after three minutes with the first of his two tries and this was followed up in the opening half with tries by Alex Griffiths, Simon Flavell, Luke Harris, Paddy Cannon and Mark Griffiths.
Five minutes before the interval saw Tom Lock nearly score in the corner only to be injured in the process.
Substitute Frank Richards finished things off and Kieran Brocken ended the first half for Wirral scoring in the right hand corner for a 48-0 advantage.
Wirral made six changes at half-time, bringing on Declan Littler, Alex Lee, Oliver Mills, Cameron Hibbert-Jones, Kieran Smith and Joel Hitchcow.
A rejuvenated Lymm started the second-half well and besides Davidson’s second try they kept Wirral at bay for most of the period.
A few minutes from time Littler went over to score Wirral’s 10th try and their 88th of the season.
It was a great final result – 58-0 – and Wirral were officially crowned League Champions.
