Wirral 17
Rochdale 15
THIS match was decided by a last minute try and conversion by the Harvey brothers, with Danny scoring and Craig converting to complete a second half turn round by a Wirral side much changed from previous weeks.
In the first half Rochdale had dominated with their all round game and had built up a 15-0 lead within 25 minutes through tries by Flitcroft and McNicholas and a conversion and penalty by James.
They started the second half in the same manner, eager to add to their score, however the game started to swing Wirral’s way as they enjoyed greater possession and territory.
Wirral spurned a number of scoring opportunities by the final passes not going to hand and did not get on the score card until the 60th minutes when they scored a speculative try by Paul Sherlock, converted by Craig Harvey.
In the last five minutes, Wirral scored a penalty and with further pressure, Danny Harvey ran through the Rochdale defence to score, leaving Craig to secure the points with a well taken conversion from wide out.
Wirral endured a further minute of pressure before the final whistle went.
On their second half performance Wirral just shaded this match with man of the match being No 8 Dave Doneo.
