CALDY were left somewhat shell-shocked in their final game of the season after some controversial decisions by the referee allowed Morley to sneak a valuable win at Paton Field.
Caldy scored four tries to the visitors’ two and should have closed out the game but a well taken penalty from winger Simon Bradshaw edged them a step closer to league safety.
Caldy snatched the first try through Craig Ross who powered through the centres and scored under the posts, Vasey converted.
Simon Bradshaw scored a try for the visitors after 22 minutes and kicked the goal from out wide. Bradshaw kicked another penalty to give Morley the lead.
Shaun Woof scored an excellent try for Caldy after great play by Craig Ross but three penalties from Bradshaw gave Morley the lead at half time.
Converted tries from Andrew Soutar and then Alec Smith gave Caldy a well deserved lead with only seven minutes to go.
It seemed as though Caldy would close out the game but a try was awarded by the official to Peter Martin, after he signalled an apparent knock on but then withdrew his hand as Morley scored in the corner.
Bradshaw kicked another fine conversion and then on the final whistle, the referee awarded a controversial penalty and Bradshaw kicked the goal to give Morley hope of avoiding relegation.
