Caldy prepare for Macclesfield grudge match

THE time has come for the big clash - Caldy versus Macclesfield - at home this Saturday at 2.15pm.

Caldy’s first XV may have had a break from games last weekend after being knocked out of the Cheshire Cup earlier on in the season, but they have been training harder than ever in preparation for this weekend’s game against their big rivals Macclesfield.

Caldy’s Matt Holt said: “It was good to get the win against Kendal before the break 14-15, it was a tough game and the lads really had to dig in, but they proved that they can win a tight, muddy forwards game as well as the more open rugby we’ve seen more recently.”

With the table as it is; Loughborough Students are in pole position, Caldy second and Macclesfield nipping at their heels in third place, with only points difference in it, this clash is going to be as important as ever.

The two teams have been trading blows for the last two seasons, in 07/08 they took one each and last season Macclesfield edged it in two closely fought, intense games.

This season, Caldy are looking to correct the balance.
