THE opening fixtures of a new Wallasey and District Football League season saw Premier Division new boys Lions FC hand out a mauling to Cheshire Cheese with a 3-0 success.

Liscard Bronze also began their top flight season with a great start when going into a two goal lead against Poulton Royal as Scott Tebb grabbed a double, but a late fight back by Royal saw Tommy Carroll (penalty) and Mark Sharrett earn them a share of the spoils in hard fought 2-2 draw.

Great Float sailed home 3-2 versus The Primrose thanks to Ben Smith, Ben Dearden and Eddie Williams scoring, with Mike McGraa and James Williams notching the replies.

Big House stood tall as they beat new boys Rose & Crown 3-1, with brothers Perry and Lias Black netting one each and Guy Anderson completing the scoring.

In Division One promoted Saughall started with a 4-1 victory over Upton FC, due to Martin Trimble netting a first half double and Andre Clarke and Jamie Parry finished the scoring in the second half for a comfortable win.

Irby FC shared the points with Windsor in a cracking 3-3 encounter that saw an own goal plus singles from Terry Ainsworth and Peter Reynolds for Irby, countered by a Stuart Hogarth brace and one from Steve Palmart to earn the draw.

Also finishing 3-3 were The Cheese (Peter Wright-2 & Anthony Corser) as they drew with Nags Head, who responded through a Paul McWilliam hat-trick.

Leasowe Youth began their reign in the division with a 3-1 defeat of Townfield (Richard Aspey) as Danny King netted twice and Carl Navarro once in a good battle.
