Glenavon soar to glory in Pres Cup

GLENAVON Eagles under 10s have retained the Wallasey Junior League Mini Soccer President’s Cup.

Wednesday night’s 3-1 victory over Wirral Juniors meant the youngsters have won the cup for a second consecutive year.

First half goals from Jake Jones and Sean Griffiths set Eagles on their way, while a second half effort by Sean Ratchford clinched the victory for Glenavon.

The game was keenly contested, with both teams battling for the right to hold the trophy.

But the Eagles relentless work rate and fantastic team play proved too much for Wirral in the end. Man of the match was Ben Mitchell, who epitomised the performance with his tough tackling and bravery.
