ASHVILLE Youth agonisingly missed out on a semi-final berth at the Northern Final of the Tesco under-13 Cup in Manchester.
The Eastham and District Junior League side found themselves in a tough group with eventual winners Reddish Vulcans topping the table ahead of competition runners-up Wallsend Boys Club and Ashville.
But with both Wallsend and Ashville finishing the round-robin stage on four points, it was the youngsters from Newcastle who progressed, with Colin Clarke’s boys missing out on the semi finals and a chance to appear at the UK Final at the City of Manchester Stadium. Despite the disappointment Clarke was proud of his talented crop of youngsters, who beat six Liverpool-based sides to earn the right to represent the Cheshire Football Association at the regional final at Manchester University.
He said: “We have got here by shear hard work and everyone associated with the club can be proud of our achievements.”
