ROCK Ferry High School have made it through to the finals of the English Schools Football Association Under-16s finals, sponsored by the Royal Air Force.
The team claimed victory against Cheshire’s Penketh High School, winning 2-0. Players battled against the wind in the hotly contested game, which took place at RAF DCAE Cosford on Thursday, March 13.
More than 50,000 students compete in the prestigious RAF Schools’ Cup each year and Rock Ferry is one of the remaining boys teams playing to win a place in the finals, which are to be held at the City of Manchester Football Stadium on April 28.
Coach Darrell Karisa said: "I’m incredibly proud of how the lads performed. They have a really strong bond as a team and are 100 per cent committed to the game.
“Our attack was really strong, with Ross Parry scoring a screamer of a first goal after 15 minutes. When Billy Foster scored the second goal, we knew we were on our way to Man City.”
Rock Ferry will go on to play Torquay Boys Grammar in the prestigious national final at the City of Manchester stadium.
