Cammell Laird2
CAMMELL LAIRD travelled to the city of Salford on Saturday, looking to get their play-off push back on track, but a last gasp header from the home side saw the Cammell’s stripped of all 3 points, and headed home down the M62 with only one.
Manager Tony Sullivan said: “It feels like a defeat, just poor, poor defensive play and the ball should never have been allowed to be crossed into the box, we were punished and rightly so, we done it to them when we last met so I suppose it evened itself out.”
Lairds broke the deadlock after the 20 minute mark as Craig Cairns hit a controlled side foot volley.
Lairds had to wait just 3 minutes for their lead as Cairns, again with no hesitating or panic, applied a controlled volley in to the bottom corner.
The second half saw a spirited fight back from Salford City side, and after just seven minutes the home side were back in the game thanks to Nathan Taylor’s strike.
In the third minute of stoppage time, with Lairds camped in their own half, Salford’s Danny White glanced his header in to the far corner of the Cammell’s goal to take a share of the spoils.
