Vauxhall Motors snap up Louis Barnes

LEFT-BACK Louis Barnes has joined Motors from Conference Premier neighbours Southport.

Barnes arrived at Haig Avenue at the start of this season after two years playing in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League.

A spell at Northwich Victoria was followed by a season with Marine, where he gained recognition as a very attack-minded full-back who can get crosses in from any angle and is also excellent at delivering set-play balls.

It is a mark of his talent that, in the Autumn of 2010, he spent time on trial with Manchester United, along with his twin brother Sam.

Barnes has been drafted in by Motors manager Carl Macauley as a direct replacement for long-serving Lee Dames, who has recently quit the club due to work commitments.

Motors are back in action on Saturday 1st December when they travel to Bower Fold to take on Stalybridge Celtic. Kick-off is 3.00pm.
