Tom Hannigan named as Vauxhall Motors’ new skipper for the 2012-13 season

VAUXHALL MOTORS have named supporters’ player of the year Tom Hannigan as their new captain for the forthcoming season.

Hannigan replaces Paul Jones who has not returned to Rivacre Park for pre-season.

Manager Carl Macauley said: “It’s been a pleasure being Tom’s manager over the last five years and each season he just gets better and better.

“I have enjoyed watching Tom’s progress and I would now rate him as one of the best centre-backs in the Blue Square Bet North.”

Hannigan has played 146 games for the Motormen to date and scored 10 goals.

VAUXHALL’S pre-season schedule continued last night with a game against Burscough. On Friday evening they play Tranmere Rovers (kick-off 7pm) before Witton Albion pay a visit to Rivacre Park on Saturday, August 11 (kick-off 3pm).
