BLUE Square Bet North’s top goalscorer Paul Brayson scored a second half hat-trick in an extraordinary game at Rivacre Park.

Motors started brightly and for the first 45 minutes looked the better side but crumbled in the second half as the away side ran riot.

Obi Anoruo gave Motors the lead on 24 minutes when he outpaced Chris Swailes and cut in from the left hand side then hit a fine right footed strike past Dan Lowson from 12 yards out.

The home side extended their lead on 45 minutes when Leighton McGivern beat the offside trap then calmly slotted the ball past the onrushing Lowson for his eighth goal of the season.

Blyth hit back almost immediately when substitute John Alexander headed home from close range to make it 2-1 at the interval.

The away side equalised just three minutes after half-time when Stephen Turnbull scored following a goal mouth scramble as Motors failed to clear their lines.

Blyth striker Paul Brayson got his first goal after 57 minutes when he latched onto a Michael Tait through ball on the left wing and had time to place the ball past Tynan from 12 yards.

Brayson grabbed his second goal on 67 minutes when he picked the ball up on the left wing and danced round a couple of Vauxhall defenders before burying the ball past the stranded Tynan.

Blyth got their fifth eight minutes later when Robbie Dale’s right wing cross found Brayson with time and space to poke the ball home for his 22nd goal of the season.

Motors’ defensive frailties were exposed yet again on78 minutes when defender Alan White was left unmarked to head home from close range.
