Vauxhall Motors 2-1 Gloucester City

ATTACKING duo Obi Anoruo and Leighton McGivern scored a goal apiece to give the Motormen all three points at Rivacre Park.

This was an evenly fought encounter which could have gone either way but the clinical finishing of Anoruo and McGivern was the difference between the two sides.

The first chance of the game fell to Gloucester on 14 minutes when Lewis Pountney had a shot parried by Scott Tynan and defender Andy Taylor cleared the ball to safety.

Tynan was making his first start since his horrific injury sustained against Hartlepool in the FA Cup and had an impressive first game back.

After the interval, home goalkeeper Tynan produced a brilliant double save, saving down to his left from Tom Webb then throwing himself at the rebound to deny Edwards.

The equaliser came on fifty nine minutes when Hector Mackie made progress on the left wing and crossed low for Darren Edwards who made no mistake to beat Tynan from close range.

Vauxhall took the lead again just three minutes later when man-of-the-match Tom Grice burst through the Gloucester defence and eventually played the ball through to Anorou who slotted the ball past Sawyer from close range for his eleventh goal of the season.

On Saturday (3pm ko), Motors travel to Eastwood Town for the first of a number of away fixtures in February.

Eastwood are 14th in the Blue Square Bet North league table however their form has improved recently.

Last Saturday they demolished Corby Town 6-1 away from home so this will be a difficult away trip for Motors.
