COLD weather conditions returned on Saturday as temperatures once again hit the minus mark, with several fixtures in the Birkenhead and Wirral League being postponed due to frozen pitches.
Two games went ahead in The Regent Cup third round. First up saw an all Second Division encounter as Ridgewood Rangers defeated league high flyers A.F.C. Stadium 4-1.
Daryl Hellon managed to keep up his good scoring streak with singles also for Farris Baker, Chris Anstey and a spectacular volley from outside the box for Jamie Williamson to secure safe passage into the semi finals for Rangers.
Next up saw FC Wirral from the second division lock horns with first division league leaders McGinty's.
Wirral put in a valiant performance despite going down 4-2 at home, Jake Painter and Andy Watterson hitting the net for the underdogs. McGinty's go through to the semi's after some patient build up play and good possession, Jesse Robinson and Callum Kelly both hit doubles for the jubilant McGinty's.
Division One
Just one game managed to beat the elements in the first division as Queens Arms were beaten 3-0 at home to Claughton Hotel, top scorer Dave Bowe hitting the back of the net yet again with Nathan Jones and Anthony Daniels also getting in on the action as The Claughton continue to improve their league form.
The Queens had Darren Amis putting on an impressive show gaining the man of the match accolade.
Division Two
Bottom placed Neston Legion upset the form book as they toppled Bronze Social 3-2. Debutant Columbo Mwambe hit a brace both coming from just inside the 18 yard area into the top corner of the net, he also picked up the man-of-the-match award for his performance, Ben Pearson also got his name on the score sheet for The Legion.
Robbie Langton hit both of The Bronze's goals in a decent attacking game of football.
Veterans Division
