VAUXHALL MOTORS cruised to victory and moved up to 12th in the Blue Square Bet North table with an emphatic display against promotion hopefuls Droylsden at The Butchers Arms.
The home side were unable to handle Motors’ attacking style of play, spearheaded by captain Josh Wilson who made Vauxhall tick in the middle of the pitch.
After seven minutes winger Tom Grice weaved his way into the Droylsden penalty area and forced a good reflex save from keeper Paul Phillips saving low to his right hand post.
However the Bloods stopper was picking the ball out of the net on 15 minutes when he failed to deal with a dangerous Dave Mannix right wing cross and defender Andy Nicholas headed the ball in off the crossbar.
The lead lasted just seven minutes however when the Vauxhall defence failed to deal with a Liam Brownhill left wing cross, which appeared to end up in the goal off the boot of Nicholas who put the ball past Kyle Clancy whilst attempting to hook the ball clear.
Vauxhall continued to push forward and got their reward on 30 minutes when Craig Mahon was hauled down whilst bearing down on goal, Josh Wilson stepped up to hit a sweet 25 yard free-kick past the outstretched Phillips to make it 2-1.
Droylsden pushed forward in search on an equaliser with Brownhill volleying over then a Ciaran Kilheeney header struck a post but the away side stood firm in defence and managed to soak up the pressure.
The victory was sealed on 86 minutes when Obi Anoruo was rewarded for his efforts with a clinical close range finish from a Paul Brown right wing free-kick.
