Vauxhall Motors facing backlog of fixtures as big freeze continues to cause havoc

SATURDAY’S postponement at Solihull Moors has left Blue Square Bet North club Vauxhall Motors facing a hectic January fixture backlog.

Their own success in the FA Cup had already left the Motormen behind in their league programme and the recent series of postponements is merely adding to the chaos.

It now looks as if Carl Macauley's side will face a midweek game throughout the first month of 2011, coming as it does straight after a hectic Christmas and New Year programme of four matches – weather permitting of course!

The first of those games is against another club that carried the Blue Square Bet North flag in the FA Cup, as Droylsden visit Rivacre Park for the first of a seasonal double-header against the Bloods of Manchester, who very nearly put Leyton Orient out of the Cup at the second meeting.

Kick-off on Boxing Day at Rivacre Park is at 3pm and club chairman Alan Bartlam is calling upon the local residents of the Wirral and Ellesmere port to come down and give Motors their backing.

“The home game with Droylsden marks the start of a crucial period in this season's programme and given the excellent quality that Carl has assembled, this is now the time for us to push on if we are to make great strides into 2011.”

“We have only lost once in the league since the start of early September and given we face festive games against Droylsden twice plus Guiseley and Workington, all clubs with an eye on the play-offs, we need to show that we can more than match them on our day, to set us up for a busy January!”
