Vauxhall chairman Alan Bartlam praises manager Carl Macauley as he approaches five years at the helm

CARL Macauley is this week celebrating being in charge of Vauxhall Motors FC for five years, barring a period where he was forced to take a back seat for family reasons.

Throughout that time, Carl has had to compete with clubs in the Blue Square Bet North with one hand tied behind his back, yet he continues to relish the prospect and displays the same enthusiasm for the task as he did when he made his bow at Hednesford in early December 2005.

Motors Chairman Alan Bartlam said: “In my book, there is not a manager in our league to compare with Carl. He has always been a most affordable manager in more ways than one. He has achieved miracles with precious little in the way of finances yet invariably still manages to put out a quality side.”

“Only last week Carl himself said that he thought the current squad was the best we have had at the club, and I for one would definitely agree with this statement. But all that is down to Carl himself and long may his reign here at Rivacre Park continue.”

This Saturday the Motormen travel to Gainsborough Trinity, managed by Brian Little, in a re-arranged league fixture when Carl Macauley's side will be looking to extend their long unbeaten league run stretching back to the first weekend of September.

That is quickly followed by a trip to Worcester City on Monday, subject to the hosts not being involved in an outstanding FA Trophy tie.
