Vauxhall Motors 2-0 Hinckley United

VAUXHALL Motors hotshot Obi Anoruo grabbed his fifth and sixth league goals of the season as the home side strolled to a convincing victory against Hinckley United.

Following Vauxhall’s midweek heroics in the FA Cup, the home side moved up the Blue Square Bet North table with a confident display and have now gone seven games unbeaten in the league and cup.

It took just five minutes for Anoruo to get off the mark when man-of-the-match Craig Mahon beat two defenders on the right wing and put in a pinpoint right wing cross and Anoruo made no mistake from three yards out.

The away side had a couple of decent chances to hit back which both fell to left winger James Reid. The first chance was a well struck left foot shot from 10 yards but Scott Tynan produced a good save diving to his left. The second goalbound opportunity was a sweetly taken free kick from 30 yards out which Tynan tipped over to safety.

Vauxhall midfielder Paul Brown dragged a shot wide on 35 minutes and at the other end Reid had another free-kick saved by Tynan just before the interval.

After the break the home side were the only team in this encounter and Anoruo should have doubled his advantage on 51 minutes when Brown crossed from the right and with only the keeper to beat but Haystead pulled off an excellent point blank save from six yards out.

Anoruo settled matters with four minutes to go when he outpaced his marker and confidently slotted the ball past the onrushing Danny Haystead.
