Motors make it three draws in succession

Vauxhall Motors 0

Boston United 0

Vauxhalls grafted out a deserved point to register their third consecutive league draw in an entertaining encounter at Rivacre Park.

This game could have gone either way but both sides defended well and a point a piece was a fair result in the end.

Both teams had a goal disallowed in the first half when, after 11 minutes, Vauxhall defender Tom Hannigan had the ball in the net but was adjudged to have used his hand in the process. After 25 minutes, The Pilgrims’ veteran striker, Jason Lee, also had a goal disallowed as Vauxhall goalkeeper Scott Tynan was fouled in the build up to Lee’s header.

The best chance of the first half fell to Boston winger Jamie Yates who beat the offside trap on the left wing to run through and strike a left foot effort from 10 yards out but Vauxhall keeper Tynan produced a fine save to tip the ball away for a corner.

In the second half both sides upped the tempo and had chances to take all 3 points. Vauxhalls leading goal scorer Obi Anoruo was unlucky to see his 20 yard volley well saved by Mckeown on 75 minutes but the best chance of the game came just 5 minutes later when Chris Noone crossed from the right wing and striker Craig Mahon outjumped his marker and headed against the crossbar from 6 yards out.

In the final minute, substitute Spencer Weir-Daley was thwarted by Tynan when he found himself one on one with the keeper and Vauxhall defender Lee Dames hit a 30 yarder with seconds to go which was well held by McKeown.
