THE Birkenhead & Wirral League are taking applications for their open age league and new veteran league now for season 2010-2011.
The league has reduced its fees for all new teams this season. Contact Joe Rooney the league secretary on 606 9935.
In Division One, Woodchurch were crowned champions with a 4-2 win over Claughton with goals from Steve Upton, John Duddy and Paul Devey getting a double, one from a tremendous volley 30 yard out.
Birkenhead FC claimed runners-up place after seeing off One O Clock Gun 4-0, with goals from Robert Courtney, Ian Louchran and a double from Andy Boulton.
New Ferry Wirral Hotel clinched a narrow 3-2 win at home to Parkfield BA.
Craig Jackson and Graham Harries replied for Parkfield. Universal Windows had James Davies and Shaw Kent grabbing two, only to see their side go down 4-3 against New Brighton, with Steven Griffiths and Stewart Basnett grabbing a double each.
In Division Two for Unitor, Adam Maizer netted a hat-trick with one each from Vinny O`Toole, Lima Casey and Vince Crew.
Unitor had already claimed the Division Two title before the 6-3 win, Peter Stuart netting one and Steven Lowry two for Fender, who only needed one point for promotion will have to try again next season.
This result allowed Gagshill promotion to Division One. The only other game in Division Two saw Wirral Wanderers overcome Bebington Rovers 2-0 with goals from Danny Irwin and Garry Phillips.
