A STRONG second half performance earned Solihull Moors the points but based on the amount of possession Vauxhalls had, the score perhaps flattered the home side.

The Motormen had 11 corners in total in this game but just couldn’t finish in front of goal. After seven minutes it was a Moogan corner which nearly resulted in a goal but Indy Khela managed to block Josh Wilson’s attempt on the line.

Moors defender Indy Khela gave Solihull the lead after 17 minutes. After a good corner from Greg Mills, a goalmouth scramble ensued and eventually Khela prodded the ball home from close range.

Vauxhall were still showing signs of danger though and a great through ball sent Tom Grice through on goal but a great last ditch tackle from Theo Streete rescued the Moors.

Vauxhall thought they had equalised just before half-time when Josh Hine, the lone striker, had his goalbound effort poked home by Chris Lane, however the assistant referee had his flag up for offside.

Karl Noon looked Vauxhall’s most dangerous player again and he showed why just after the break.

He went on an inspired run which saw him evade three tackles but as he got to the edge of the box he snatched at his shot and it went wide of Crane’s right hand post.

Solihull took advantage of Vauxhall’s missed opportunities and extended their lead after 57 minutes. Mills crossed to James McPike who took a touch before blasting his shot home.

Jake Edwards made it 3-0 on 72 minutes when McPike pulled the ball across goal for Edwards to prod home from close range.

Noon then had two chances to give Vauxhall a glimmer of hope of coming back into the match. After heading a Moogan corner over he received a good pass by Grice but his wayward shot was well blocked by Streete.

Moors substitute Mark Gardner completed the scoring with ten minutes left. An awful back pass gave keeper St Louis-Hamilton no chance as Gardner slid in to win the ball and knocked it home to give Solihull their biggest win of the season.
