Vauxhall Motors FC left shocked by Chester City news

VAUXHALL progressed to the last eight of the Cheshire FA Senior Cup after a thrilling 4-3 victory at Warrington Town last week.

The Motormen dominated the tie at Cantilever Park for 75 minutes and then lived on their nerves during the anxious closing stages when the home side produced a fightback.

Captain Chris Lane gave Vauxhall a 1-0 lead when he converted a stunning right foot volley from a tight angle.

Karl Noon doubled Motors’ advantage when he slotted home after riding a number of tackles with a solo run from the halfway line.

Warrington reduced the arrears after the break but Jonathan Egerton made it 3-1 on the hour when his deflected effort left the Warrington keeper stranded.

Substitute Brian Moogan converted from the spot after Noon had been floored to make it 4-1.

However Warrington striker Chris Gahgan scored twice in the final few minutes to make it a nervy end but the Motormen hung on to progress to the next round.

They will play Woodley Sports away in the quarter-finals.
