Vauxhall Motors FC left shocked by Chester City news

VAUXHALL Motors FC have been left shocked and angry following the news that Chester City FC have now been given until November 30 to pay off their football debts following the transfer of Paul Taylor in 2008.

“It is simply astonishing,” commented chairman Alan Bartlam.

“When we are given a deadline to meet certain criteria, it is set in stone.

“If we do not comply, we are penalised. It is as simple as that. But deadlines in respect of Chester City are seemingly not worth the paper they are written on.”

“We have been owed money by this football club for over 12 months for a football-related matter, yet the so-called powers that be actually seem incapable of exerting any power whatsoever. It is a disgrace.”

ON the field, Motors manager Carl Macauley is busy this week fine tuning his squad in readiness for their FA Trophy tie away at Quorn, of the UniBond League Division One South on Saturday afternoon.

The Leicestershire club shocked Boston United in the previous round, knocking the Pilgrims out after a replay.

The Vauxhall chief will be hoping his own lads will rise to the challenge and progress to the next round, but should a second match be required, then this will take place at Cammell Laird’s ground next Tuesday evening (kick-off 7.45pm).

Bartlam explained “Our own floodlights are in the course of being repaired following the fire damage to two base units at the end of last month.

“The work is expected to be completed in about nine days time, but that is not early enough to stage a possible home replay.

“As a result, we are indebted to our local rivals Cammell Laird who have very generously offered to stage the tie, should this be needed. We are genuinely grateful to them for their help at this time and if we can repay them sometime in the future, we will be only too pleased to help.”
