Vauxhall Motors and Stafford Rangers share the points in entertaining 2-2 draw at Rivacre Park

VAUXHALL MOTORS and Stafford Rangers played out an entertaining draw in this mid-table clash at Rivacre Park.

Stafford took the lead on 17 minutes when Ben Mills beat his man and squared the ball for strike partner Nick Wellecomme to fire home from close range.

Just four minutes later, however, the Motormen were on level terms. Brian Moogan crossed deep from the right, Chris Noone headed the ball back into the danger area and ex-Chester City winger Robbie Booth scrambled the ball home from a couple of yards out.

Stafford nearly regained the lead a minute before the break when a Jake Moult pile-driver rattled the crossbar but it was the home side who went in 2-1 at the interval.

Karl Noon broke away from the static Stafford defence and slotted the ball past keeper Danny Allen.

Just after half time, Noon nearly got his second of the game when he blocked Bobby Wilson’s clearance and ended up one-on-one against Allen but his deft chip was saved

On 51 minutes, Wellecomme netted his second of the game, sliding the ball home beyond the outstretched Danzelle St Louis-Hamilton to level proceedings.
