IN the current economic climate, many families may find it difficult to pay for their children to watch live football on a Saturday afternoon. Vauxhall Motors FC have therefore decided to let all children under 16 years old in completely free of charge throughout next season’s home league fixtures- That’s 21 matches and nothing to pay !
The Motormen secured their best ever finish in the Blue Square North with a top half placing and are already planning for the next campaign, which kicks off on Saturday 8th August 2009.
The initiative will be spearheaded with a letter to each and every school in the area in an effort to swell the meager attendances at the Motassist Arena in recent times.
Club chairman Alan Bartlam commented “local youngsters hardly ever get the opportunity to watch the big clubs because of the excessive prices involved especially in the harsh climate we are in now – this incentive will give them the chance to adopt Vauxhall Motors as their second club but more importantly, witnessing good quality football first hand and completely free of charge in a safe environment”.
Defender Rob Marsh-Evans has signed for Blue Square North rivals Southport FC on a two year deal. Marsh-Evans played 24 times for the Motormen last season, scoring two goals.
