WORKINGTON avenged a 3-0 defeat at Vauxhall last month but had to come from behind to eventually take three points, writes Phil Jarvis.
It was Vauxhall who got off to a flying start as home keeper Adam Collin had to make a great save following a one-on-one with Karl Noon but almost immediately the Motormen took the lead.
After just six minutes James Holden floated over a free kick from the right and it was Noon who climbed highest to send a looping header beyond Collin and into the far corner to make it 1-0.
Four minutes after the interval and Workington were level. Tom Field weaved his way into the Workington penalty area but Dave Hewson made a fine challenge and played the ball to Gareth Arnison. His clever through ball was played into the path of Jonny Wright who fired home from eight yards out.
Workington then took the lead on 64 minutes when this time Wright was the provider with a cross from the left and Arnison dived forward to head past James Coates.
Vauxhalls were rocked and just three minutes later it was 3-1. A free-kick from Wright saw Arnison nip in to get the final touch.
