DESPITE freezing fog, conditions that saw the postponement of games in both divisions of the Birkenhead and Wirral Football League, Claughton Hotel climbed to joint top spot with a 4-2 win over Universal Windows.
Man of the match Mark McNeill grabbing a double, Jamie Brown, Liam O’Dowd were also on target.
Scott Clifton replied with two for Universal. The only other game played in Division One was an upset for Corsair, who were on the wrong end of a 3-1 defeat by FC Village.
Danny Jones netted twice, complemented by a Stuart McIver solo, Jamie Edwards scored his eighth goal in nine games for Corsair.
In Division Two, leaders Sheridans came back from being 3-0 behind to finish 4-6 victors over Upton F.C.
James Williams started the revival with a low swerving drive from distance, followed by singles for L.Williamson, I.Thomas, J.Pomphrett, P.Howells and A.Cotgrave.
Stuart Hardman bagged four and was man of the match for Upton.
Bebington Rovers had a convincing 5-0 win over Unitor to take them up to fifth spot.
On target for Rovers was McNally, Richards, Joyce, O Donnell followed by Luxon.
Meliora Cogito 3-2 Bee Hotel in a close encounter, Cogito struck through Michael Childes, Darren Jones and Lewie Mansfield.
Bees’ John Morrell was yet again on the score sheet with a double.
Towers in third place had a narrow 2-1 victory over Bronze Social. Craig Richmond was at hand to settle it with two for The Towers. Steve Smythe was on target for the second week running for The Bronze.
