Future continue 100 per cent start in Birkenhead and Wirral Saturday League

DIVISION One of the Birkenhead and Wirral Saturday League saw promoted Future continue their 100 per cent start to the season courtesy of a narrow 1-0 victory over The Crown.

Substitute Victor Thurgill was the match winner, netting with his first touch of the game. Shaun Phillips turned in a man of the match display for Future.

Corsair also made it two wins from two edging out Shaftsbury 5-4 in a thriller. Phil Hudson and man of the match JJ Harrison led the way with two goals each and Jamie Edwards also got his name on the scoresheet.

Elsewhere Saddle Club, marshalled by the excellent Darren Amus, defeated Willows 3-1. Chris Brennan struck two spectacular goals and Jamie Williams came off the bench to net the third. Willows replied with a penalty scored by goalkeeper John Forshaw.

Moreton escaped with a 2-2 draw against Claughton Hotel thanks to a last minute penalty from Wayne Robinson, adding to John Daltry's earlier strike. Mark McNeil and Liam O’Dowell netted for Claughton.

Sheridans have set the early pace in Division Two, heading the table on goal difference after a 10-1 demolition of Neston Legion. Meliora Cogito edged past the Bee Hotel by 1-0. Elsewhere, Upton FC and Bronze Social shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. In other action, Central Park found their scoring form in a 6-3 triumph over Bebington Rovers.
