HAVING come to terms with the prospect of playing in the UniBond Premier League this August, there still may be a real possibility Vauxhall Motors will retain their place in the Blue Square North.
Despite finishing in a relegation position, on-going issues at both Boston United and Nuneaton Borough means that the Motormen could be saved from demotion at the 11th hour.
Former Football League club Boston are hopeful that their appeal to the Football Association will receive a favourable response, as their financial problems appear to have been resolved just in the nick of time.
But Nuneaton are seemingly only a matter of a few days away from going into administration, with debts in excess of £750,000 despite selling their long-time home only last summer.
If they do enter in to administration prior to the Conference AGM on Saturday week, then Vauxhall will be saved from relegation.
Motors chairman Alan Bartlam said: “It is astonishing to think that Nuneaton, of all clubs, are in this situation.
“From our perspective, it means that we are unable to progress our own plans, because at this stage, we do not know with any certainty which league we will be in.
“This impacts on several on so many issues, including playing budget and personnel, arranging friendlies and ordering our kits, to organizing club programmes. The best that we can hope for, is that the issue is resolved as quickly as possible.”
Meanwhile, last season’s Vauxhall sensation Paul Taylor is set to have talks with Chester City this week, subject to a medical, with a view to a transfer between the two clubs for an undisclosed fee.
