Bronze’s golden display in Cup

IN AN excellent Division Two Cup final, Liscard Bronze came out on top 3-2 against Irby FC in a superb exhibition of football.

Irby took an early lead through Adam Cowen but a Jonny Pringle penalty levelled matters before Scott Tebb scored to put Bronze ahead.

Pringle then appeared to make the game safe with his second before a frantic finish saw Graeme Matthews reduce the arrears.

Sam Pringle put in a man-of-the-match performance for Irby and captain Steve Bridge did likewise for the winners.

The top-of-the-table clash in the Premier Division ended with Poulton Royal continuing their chase for the title with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over The Office – but a hectic schedule could take its toll.

The delayed Capitol Cup second round tie saw Pilot Boat cut Cheshire Cheese down with a 3-1 success.

In the third round ties, Queens FC put on a royal performance to beat Our Lady’s 6-2 and Neston Nomads defeated Division Two side The Joeys in a penalty shoot-out after drawing 2-2 after extra time.

Another youth side progressed as Christleton eased home 6-1 against Mackenzies.

The Tower showed their prowess when beating Upton FC 11-0.
