Motormen cling onto status
WITH just five matches left to play, Vauxhall Motors are clinging to their Blue Square North status after 1-0 defeats at Workington and against play-off hopefuls Harrogate Town at Rivacre Park over Easter.
On Saturday up in Cumbria, the Motormen were unlucky to go behind but injuries to three players that afternoon left manager Carl Macauley without six regulars come Easter Monday’s home game with the Yorkshiremen.
And a 66th minute header from Mark Hume proved to be enough to sink the Motormen closer to the relegation trapdoor.
This weekend, they travel to Tamworth for their penultimate away fixture before playing host to the first of two fellow strugglers at Rivacre Park, namely Hucknall Town, a week on Saturday.
That day, the club will be offering special rates to all football supporters who turn up in their favourite replica shirts . Full details in next week’s Wirral News.
