Brookley hold nerve in shoot-out

AC BROOKLEY relied on the lottery of a penalty shoot-out to book their place in the semi-finals of the Regent Cup at the expense of Moreton.

Goals came from Alan Price (2) and Stuart Williams in normal time for Brookley, while Paul Cupit, John Cupit and Ricky Lampkin registered for the unfortunate Moreton.

A fantastic performance from plucky Division Two side FC Village saw them take holders Bird in Hand all the way in a gutsy 3-1 defeat.

Mark Howell notched up two goals and Robbie Black struck for Bird, while Darren Eaton replied for FC Village.

Despite racing into the lead through a Scott Clifton strike, First Division Universal Windows were eliminated by Second Division Future 3-1.

Paul Devey fired another double and man-of-the-match Billy Devey rounded-off a fine individual performance with a goal.

In the other quarter-final, Kelma edged past Sports Bar 1-0 courtesy of a Kev Miller strike. Kelma were indebted to a last minute penalty save from keeper Mike Walker. In Division One, goals from David Haye and James Thomas were enough to see Willows take maximum points at FC Borough, who – despite having the lion's share of possession – could only manage a Mark Sampson effort.

Elsewhere, a hat-trick from Danny Holdsworth, plus strikes from John McGragh (2) and Andy Foster, helped Parkfield BA to a 6-2 triumph over Manor Athletic.

In Division Two, goals from John Morrell (2), Adam Threlfall and Dave McFerrin were enough for Wellington FC to overcome Bebington Rovers 4-2. Dave Royal grabbed two consolation goals for Rovers. Tower had five different scorers on the day in their comfortbale 5-1 victory over Wirral Wanderers.
