Parkfield out-numbered by Bird In Hand

IN DIVISION One of the Wirral Football League, ten-man Parkfield BA were beaten 9-0 by reigning champions Bird in Hand.

Robbie Black found the net on four occasions and was supported by strikes by Paul Howell (2), Mark Howell, Mike McCann and the customary 30-yard thunderbolt from Gareth Griffiths.

Second placed Moreton were held to a 1-1 draw by Manor Athletic. Respective scorers were Dave White and Tony Bedword.

Elsewhere, goals from Neil Woods, Shane Farley and Gary Potter anchored FC Borough to an impressive 3-1 victory over AC Brookley, who netted a late consolation through Colin Tunstall.

A 35-yard bullet from Alan Dean proved to be the difference between the sides as Sports Bar edged past Universal Windows 2-1.

In Division Two, Future remain in top spot after defeating Wellington 3-1 on a windswept afternoon. Paul Devey fired two goals and Jay Bird also netted.

Avenue remain hot on their heels after man-of-the-match Gary Jones inspired them to an excellent 6-2 win over Bronze Social.

First half goals from Kenny Murphy, Darren Eaton and Victor Thurgill helped FC Village to a comfortable 3-0 scoreline over Central Park, while Claughton Hotel squeezed past Tower 4-3 in an end-to-end thriller.

Chris Bowe fired a double for Claughton, who also had James Atherton and Andy Ward on target. Mike Williams (2) and Dave King replied for the Tower.

A left-footed volley from Richie Lamb, a scorching free-kick from Craig Ellam and a tap in from Paul Lloyd steered Trafalgar to a 3-0 triumph at bottom of the table Wirral Wanderers.
