Double delight for Thomas

BRITAIN'S Debbie Thomas won her third women's doubles title at the 2007 NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour.

Partnering Frenchwoman Arlette Racineux, Debbie triumphed at the Tournoi De Montfermeil, near Paris, France.

Thomas, from Prenton, Wirral, and Racineux were the women's doubles top seeds in Montfermeil and had a bye in to the semi-finals before defeating Briton Debbie Brazier and French partner Cathy Portier 6-2, 6-2.

The Anglo-French pairing then went on to defeat Austrian duo Henriett Koosz and Brigitte Seyer 6-0, 6-1 in the final at the ITF Futures Series event.

In the women's singles in Montfermeil, Thomas also started well, defeating Koosz 6-4 6-3 to earn a place in the semi-finals against doubles partner and top seed Racineux.

But the French World No. 20 proved too strong for Thomas, securing a 6-1, 6-2 win to earn a place in her second final of the tournament.

Thomas will now join Britain's other leading players for her next tournament – the Nottingham Indoors, which takes place at the City of Nottingham Tennis Centre from October 31 until November 4.
