Bird in Hand maintain their unbeaten start

IN DIVISION One action leaders Bird in Hand maintained their 100 per cent start to the campaign with a 4-2 victory over Parkfield BA.

Paul Howell grabbed two goals, while Francis Tollman and Robbie Black, with a 30 yard scorcher, also netted. John McGragh and Danny Holdsworth fired consolation goals for Parkfield.

A hat-trick from Danny McGill inspired Willows to a 5-4 victory over AC Brookley in a pulsating affair.

Brookley's scorers were John Williams (2), Steven Abbot and David Dudley and they must be wondering how they failed to win after scoring four goals away from home.

Despite leading 1-0 after Mark Lawler opened the scoring, Kelma slipped to a 2-1 reverse at FC Borough. Sky Sample and captain Brian Layfield struck the all important goals for Borough.

Goals from John Lynch (2) and Steven Aurin anchored Sports Bar to an impressive 3-2 win at New Ferry, while second placed Moreton recorded a 5-2 scoreline against Universal Windows. Man-of-the-match Ricky Lampkin notched two goals on his debut and was supported by goals from brothers, John (2) and Paul Cupit.

In Division Two, the game of the day saw FC Village race into 3-0 lead over Claughton Hotel thanks to strikes from Kevin Machen, Matthew Lee and Darren Eaton.

But an inspired comeback from Claughton Hotel saw them enter the 90th minute 4-3 up, until Victor Thurgill rescued a point for Village.

Star of the show for Claughton Hotel was Alan Craze, who found the net on three occasions. Elsewhere, leaders Future hit six without reply at Wirral Wanderers, while Tower won 4-3 against Bronze Social, Wellington FC took maximum points in a tense 1-0 win over Avenue and Trafalgar Rangers comfortably beat Central Park 3-0.
