Cammell Laird1
CAMMELL Laird returned from the M62 licking their wounds after being turfed out of the FA Cup by UniBond Premier basement club Radcliffe Borough.
The home side threw the form book out of the window by storming to a three-goal lead after just 20 minutes.
Andy Wayne nodded in a cross that just eluded Lairds’ custodian Leon Bimpson after six minutes and doubled his tally with a simple tap-in 10 minutes later.
Lairds woe was compounded three minutes later when Scott Wilson curved the ball under Bimpson.
The Birkenhead men’s hopes were raised just before the break when Boro keeper Tim Dittmer saw red for bringing down Alex Hay.
Joey Gibiliru was alert to slot in the parried Anthony Sheehan penalty.
The twist of the knife came when Michael Oates broke away for 10-man Boro and struck a fine shot into the top corner, leaving Lairds to concentrate on promotion matters.
