Motormen suffer setback

VAUXHALL Motors boss Carl Macauley has been forced back to the drawing board after his side were crushed 5-2 at home for the second time this season.

Full marks to Stalybridge Celtic, who unlike some visiting teams, were prepared to attack at every opportunity last Saturday.

Hot-shot Paul Taylor fired Motors in front on 21 minutes before Celtic hit back to edge a 2-1 interval lead.

Lee Furlong then gave the Motormen fresh hope when he converted a 50th minute penalty following a foul on Taylor.

But instead of acting for a spur to the home side, Celtic moved up another gear to quickly establish a 4-2 lead before hitting a fifth later on.

This Saturday, Motors travel to struggling Hucknall Town. Meanwhile, they play host to Alsager

Town in Unibond Cheshire Senior Cup on Tuesday, September 25.
