Alex Hughes continuing to make waves at Irby CC

YOUNG cricketer Alex Hughes is continuing to make waves at Irby Cricket Club.

This season has seen the teenager open the batting for the club’s first team, and he top scored with 57 against Brooklands on Saturday.

The 15-year-old earned his position at the top of the order after topping last season’s scoring tables for the second team.

Alex, a year 10 pupil at Calday Grange Grammar School who is also on the Emerging Players Programme with Cheshire Cricket, is also a left arm fast bowler and is now Irby’s leading run scorer this season, after Saturday’s heroics helped his team to a rain-affected draw.
