BROMBOROUGH Paints Merseyside Competition leaders Huyton were given a fright at Maritime before taking a low scoring match by seven runs.

Kop Soundararasa with 6-29 and Sahni Ajay 4-24 helped dismiss Huyton for 75. Maritime then fell short as Peter White 5-42 and Muhamid Zahid 4-23 hit back in style.

Old Xaverians stayed in the tile race with a 111 runs success over Port Sunlight. Kevin Heywood 51 and Gareth Holder 5-21 were key players.

Aigburth won by eight wickets at Cheshire Lines. Ian Dutton 5-21, John Russell 4-25 and Paul O’Leary 47 were well to the fore.

Tranmere Vics fell by three wickets at the Merseyside Commonwealth despite good performances by Jon Magowan 65 and Ben England 4-69. Joe Cazabon claimed 4-14 for the winners.

Mossley Hill stayed top of Division two with a five wickets margin over Singlehurst. Steve Jamieson contributed 41.

Fred Woods 6-24 and Marty Wilcox 4-26 earned Manweb a nineteen runs success over Bromborough.

St Mary’s College Old Boys accounted for Goodlass by 72 runs with Jim Kelly finishing with 8-21 and Paul Houghton hitting 55.

Old Xaverians lifted the David Kaufman Memorial Trophy with a 157 runs margin over Aigburth. Kevin Heywood undefeated on 101 and Ian Knox shared a second wicket partnership of 201.
