PARKFIELD LISCARD made unbeaten St Helens Recs work all the way for their 14th successive win in the Second Division.
The champions-elect were restricted to 191-7 declared off 55 overs. Opener Stuart Lyon hit 74 and Daron Cruickshank made 57 but from 158-2 they were pegged back by the efforts of Matthew Keogh (5-40).
Liscard lost early wickets in reply but Ammar Baig (39) and Kamran Hussain (34) put them back on track. At 137-4 they were well placed for victory but Nazim Mohammed (7-42) ripped through them and they fell 38 runs short.
Recs are 69 points clear of second placed Alder, who thrashed Sutton by 136 runs.
Chris Spencer struck 96 and captain Muhammad Masroor made 43 in Alder's 228-8 declared off 54 overs. Andrew Dodd claimed a hat-trick for Sutton and finished with 3-44.
Kevin Potter (3-23) and Lance Mulholland (3-30) helped dismiss Sutton for 92.
St Helens are third after winning by 49 runs at Ainsdale. Adam Friar (58) and James Davies (37) were the chief contributors in St Helens' 182 all out as Chris Jones took 5-65 and Tony Rogan 3-41.
