THERE was a mis-match at Birkenhead St Mary’s in the Second Division where the bottom club suffered a 10-wicket thrashing at the hands of champions-elect St Helens Recs.
Nazim Mohammed took 6-20 as St Mary’s were all out for 44. Sujeewa Jayasekara remained unbeaten on 28 with the next highest scorer making just four.
Recs reached their target off 9.2 overs with Stuart Lyon on 25 not out.
Ather Abid struck 107 and shared a second-wicket stand of 159 with Scott Aitchison (77) in Alder’s 106-run win over Moorfield.
Second placed Alder posted 269-4 and then dismissed Moorfield for 163 as Muhammad Masroor bagged 4-29.
Parkfield Liscard were 60-run winners at home to Ainsdale.
Southport Trinity inflicted a four-wicket defeat on Burscough. John Morgan claimed 4-32 to help reduce Burscough to 149 all out as Michael Cooney hit 44.
Third placed St Helens took the derby spoils as they beat Sutton by three wickets.
Matheesha Ranasinghe (5-34) and Adam Friar (3-7) dismissed Sutton for 118 but St Helens also struggled with the bat.
There was another low scoring clash at Wavertree who edged to a two-wicket win over Caldy, who were all out for 117.
