New Brighton and Wallasey play out exciting draw

Neil Cross (111no) and David White (103) put on a mammoth 228 for the third wicket as the hosts declared on 235-4 off 53.4 overs.

Wallasey produced a gutsy response with the bat but finished agonisingly short on 228-8 off 61 overs.

Skipper David Miles hit 57 not out and Chris Bourne struck 43, while there were three wickets apiece for Andrew Evans and Ashraf Nawab.

Highfield, who notched their first league win of the campaign against Lytham on Saturday, completed a fine weekend as they thrashed Newton le Willows by 141 runs.

Skipper Michael Farrell hammered 120 in Highfield's 258-9 declared off 50.5 overs. Newton were all out for 117 inside 35 overs with Chris Liptrot taking 7-54.

Third placed Lytham won by 48 runs at Hightown. Lytham declared on 165-9 off 55 overs and Marcus Sharp (5-35) and Michael Rigby (4-41) brushed the hosts aside for 117.

Colwyn Bay piled the misery on bottom club Prestatyn as they inflicted a 68-run defeat.
