WALLASEY maintained their remarkable rise in the Business Assistance Liverpool Competition Premier League with a 69-run victory at home to relegation threatened Formby.
The fifth-placed Wirral club have now won eight of their last nine league games with only runaway leaders Bootle getting the better of them.
Opener Kuran Makol hit 40 but Wallasey were in trouble at 118-6 before Chris Bourne (45no) and skipper David Miles (56no) shared an unbroken seventh-wicket stand of 87.
They declared on 205-6 off 62 overs as Tomas Sephton claimed 4-101 from a marathon 30-over spell.
Formby never looked like getting close and from 62-5 they slipped to 136 all out. Bourne was the pick of the bowlers with 3-18.
There was an early finish at Wadham Road as leaders Bootle thrashed Southport & Birkdale by nine wickets.
After being put into bat, Southport were blown away for just 58 in 26 overs. Mark O’Connor (4-23), skipper David Snellgrove (3-8) and Aussie Pat Jackson (3-18) did the damage.
Bootle needed just 11 overs to knock off the runs with Jackson unbeaten on 33.
Snellgrove’s side are 66 points clear of nearest rivals New Brighton, who enjoyed a 55-run win at Fleetwood Hesketh.
