Brighton come a cropper

NEW Brighton came a cropper by four wickets at Colwyn Bay in the Business Assistance Liverpool Competition Premier League.

Debasis Mohanty returned a match-winning 6-57 as the Wirral side slumped to 126 while Sion Morris hit 56 not out in reply, with Louis Botes taking 3-39.

Maghull grabbed victory at Wallasey with one over remaining to boost their survival chances.

Chasing a target of 205-8 declared (55), Kiran Powar (75) received staunch support. Chris Bourne took 5-91. Young Aussie Simon Keen top scored for the Wirral side scoring 86 but they slipped from 102-2 to 138-7 through good spells from Ryan Swiers (5-50) and Powar (3-72).

Meanwhile, Neston stay top after their fifth win, by 67 runs against Alderley Edge at Parkgate in the ECB Premier Division of The Right Move Abroad Cheshire County League.

They declared on 187-6, with Jack Smith 83 and Chris Hackett 58.

Alderley were bowled out for 120, with Jon Farrow bagging 5-54.
