Wallsey YBC’s Clubmark strike!

SPORT England have awarded Clubmark status to Wallasey YBC as recognition of the club’s commitment to develop high quality and welcoming environments for young people.

The Clubmark accreditation acknowledges that a club has met the standards of key operating areas.

Junior Kingpins Wallasey YBC has become only the seventh youth bowling club in the UK to achieve this level of operating standards, and received the official Clubmark certificate from the Mayor of Wirral, Councillor Alan Jennings, on Saturday, April 16.

The ceremony also included representation from the British Tenpin Bowling Association (BTBA), the sport’s national governing body, with Richard Howison-Johnson presenting the club with a bowling ball.

Wallasey YBC also celebrated the success of its bowlers with the presentation of trophies from club sponsor Mark Baxter, owner of Ultra Seal, to the top performers in the annual Easter singles competition, where a number of the new bowlers were successful.

The 2010/2011 season has seen high success for Wallasey YBC in tenpin bowling, with one of their senior members, Rachel Arthur, winning the European Open Championships in Belgium and inclusion into the England squad.

The club is based at Riverside Bowl, New Brighton, with weekly sessions being held on Saturday mornings offering coaching and competitions for 6-18 year olds.
