Good form continues for Neston South Wirral

NESTON South Wirral continued their recent good form with a 3-0 home win over South Cheshire, in North Division Two.

The visitors started brightly as Neston struggled to find any rhythm early on, but the home defence stood firm to limit South Cheshire to half chances. As the first half progressed, Neston began to take control, and Lawrence McNeight was on hand to put them one ahead after Rogier Van Der Ouderaa's initial shot was saved. Shortly afterwards, the Parkgate men were awarded a penalty, but as McNeight waited on the spot, the umpires reversed their initial decision. Neston didn't let this hurt them though, and McNeight soon made it 2-0, after some fine inter-play with Aled Jarvis.

After the interval, Neston were largely dominant, and their Congleton based visitors didn't help themselves as they saw two players sin binned.

Neston were denied several times by the South Cheshire keeper, whilst at the other end Neston defenders Matty Newall and Irishman Steve Kelso, were in good form as they kept the visiting forwards at bay.

The home team forced several penalty corners which went unrewarded until Van Der Ouderaa struck late on to put the seal on Neston's first win over South Cheshire in their last seven meetings.

This weekend Neston will look to continue their rise up the table when they travel to Northop Hall.

Elsewhere, the ladies first team march on in Cheshire Division 2. The prolific Sally Bell scored twice, with Alex Pinnington, Suzy Twist and Kate Baxendale also on target as they thrashed Northop Hall 5-1.
