Neston South Wirral lost for the fourth game in succession

NESTON South Wirral slumped to a fourth successive league defeat as a well drilled Bolton side claimed a 2-0 win at Parkgate in North Division Two.

Neston enjoyed the majority of the few goalmouth chances in the first period, as Aled Jarvis saw his shot strike the cross-bar, with Matty Newall just unable to make contact with the rebound.

However, it was the visitors who made the breakthrough with the last action of the first half, when Liam Dudley’s wayward shot was fortuitously steered in by the unmarked Will Charlesworth.

After the interval, Jarvis saw his reverse stick shot well saved by the Bolton keeper, but it was the visitors who started to show a little more penetration.

Midway through the half, Neston’s defence was caught flatfooted as Bolton broke away and Rich Lowry could do little as Chris Aitken slotted home.

Bolton threatened to kill the game off, before Neston won a series of penalty corners. From one of those, they thought they were back in the game, as Dan Khedun’s fierce strike found the backboard, but the goal was controversially disallowed. Bolton played out time for the rest of the game and were delighted to hear the final whistle.

This week Neston face a testing trip when they take on a skilful Manchester side.
