YOUTH windsurfing team West Kirby Warriors will soon travel to Northampton Sailing Club, Pitsford , Northamptonshire to represent the Northwest region in the national final of the RYA Team15 (T15) Champions Cup over the weekend 9-10 October.
The Warriors will join battle with 100 young windsurfers from nine other regions across the country, as they slug it out on the water over two days for the prestigious title of T15 National Champions 2010.
The competitors, all under 16 years old, will compete in four different sailboard classes, suiting different ages and skill levels, pitting their skills against their opponents, trying to post the best results possible for their team.
The West Kirby Warriors, who sail at West Kirby on the Wirral and are sponsored by Windsurf magazine, won their place in the national final after winning a series of highly competitive heats in the T15 Inter-Club Championship throughout the region this summer.
Beating teams from as far afield as Windermere and Glossop, the Warriors were crowned NorthWest T15 Regional Champions earning themselves a place in the national final.
“This year our series has been highly competitive, with seven teams involved, and turnouts of up to 54 sailors per event,” said series organiser Mike Roberts.
“West Kirby have come through this fierce competition, and fully deserve their chance for national glory at the T15 Champions Cup.”
