NESTON Neons Netball Team have received grants which will enable them to expand their membership and take part in more leagues.
The team, who have been training together for four years, started out as a relatively small group.
Recently they set their sights on progressing into playing in more leagues, including the EPIC league in Ellesmere Port, and also on expanding their membership.
To do this required either sponsorship or a grant, to pay for kit, qualified coaches, affiliation fees and court costs.
Having looked into a number of possibilities, help came their way with a substantial grant of nearly £4000 from Cheshire West and Chester Council, from the personal budgets of Councillors Kay Loch and Scott Mealor. Additional funding of £720 has been provided by Project Rural Matters.
On behalf of Neston Netball Club, secretary Lesley Foulkes said: "We would like to thank Cllrs Loch and Mealor and Project Rural Matters for their support, which will now enable us to open the club up to encourage new members, including younger players from the age of 14 up."
Lesley added: "The members of the club are very friendly and we are looking for any ladies beginners or experienced, who would enjoy playing netball on a Tuesday evening (7-8pm) at Neston Recreation Centre.
"We are also holding a session between 8-9pm at Neston High School Gym for the more experienced players who want to play league netball."
